now, clip returns to action with the first release of his own imprint (along with fellow barcelona producer xixa) abstract places audio. this gebre ep confirms him as a true bassmaster in his own genre always providing emotional response to the floor twisting techno codes with a house groove with powerful basslines that are the spine of the development of the track.

the crate-digging credentials of psychemagik’s danny mclewin are well established. even so, he’s excelled himself with the first release on spacetalk, a joint venture with leng records’ simon purnell and paul murphy.
the trio have successfully worked together a lot over the last five years, with purnell and murphy releasing a string of superb collections, compiled by mclewin and psychemagik partner tom coveney. all three men were keen to continue this partnership, and have founded spacetalk to re-release long forgotten, little-known or overlooked music, as well as previously unheard archive material from some of the artists involved.

grain remixes !! ashworth s grain lp captured the imagination of many in the music world on its release last year. after releasing two original ep s from the album we get an excellent remix package from three leading lights in electronic music. what better way to wrap up his debut with needwant. the ep serves up three very different remixes all for a different occasion and mood. the ever reliable dorisbourg, who remains one half of the lauded genius of time, takes a laidback electronica approach but with techno at it s heart. newcomer kris davis and yost keep the original feel of cork but provide a sensual but progressive vibe. while simon haydo drives all the way to the end with his remix of fireworks. great production on show across the ep for the emerging producer ashworth.

ntd005 adds a new artist to the collective – metamethod aka simon haynes. from adelaide, australia, metamethod (undefined recordings) returns from a long hiatus with a new ep. the product of much time refining sounds and ideas, both tracks on the ep are essential synthesis. sounds primarily sculpted from scratch, resulting in biochemical rhythms and algorithmic loops. a must have record for anyone wanting to add some raw energy to their collection.

for the its 11th release, mindtrip brings together 4 of the most challenging and interesting artists of the current techno scene, presenting two original tracks and two remixes. this record opens with ovadoca from the highly productive dutchman tripeo, also known as darko esser. ovadoca is a dark, meandering and trippy track which incorporates rich analogue sounds with a deep, rolling groove, perfect for parties which continue for days not hours. the second track introduces finnish dj and producer juho kusti to the mindtrip imprint with his brilliant interpretation of ovadoca.

theyre young and tough, and especially wonderful too, easily one of the most compelling harmony soul groups to ever hail from the windy city! the sets a chicago soul gem from the early 70s, recorded with a laidback, slightly tripped-out vibe thats different than the tighter styles of other groups from the same scene, definitely righteous at points, with some of the superbad modes you might hear from an east coast lineup like the delfonics or soul generation, especially when they were trying to get a bit more conscious in their message. arrangements are great – handled by tom tom washington, eugene record, and cliff davis, very much at the best brunswick mode, but again with a deeper sort of vibe too. the title cuts a monster, and a very fitting follow-up to their earlier sly, slick, & wicked track – and the album features 2 versions (vocal and instrumental) of a cut called this is the lost generation, a very righteous soul groove with a heavy production tip.
